“ Director Jan Nebeský has long favoured extreme and demanding subject matter, not only in the sense of the spiritual dimension of theatrical material, but also in the sense exceptional demands being placed on the actors themselves. This demanding nature is amplified even further by the fact that his performances merge elements from various artistic genres and deal with paramount questions of the sense of human existence or Christian faith - but in an exceptionally inventive theatrical "grounding". If it is difficult to judge the work of Jan Nebeský in the context of contemporary Czech theatre and its unconventional forms, it is because, in my opinion, it often goes beyond it in the sense that it creates this context itself, and it is itself also a criterion for judging our theatrical scene. Contributions by a close circle of other artists are also characterized by originality and a high degree of skill.”
